“Komsomol’skaja pravda”, 20 th May 2005.

The Bandinelli Palace was re-opened for the second time.

- Olga Vasylchenko, from Kyiv (a specialist in agriculture by profession), says: “ I got here by chance. It was such great luck! I had an opportunity to dance, to drink some Lviv beer, listen to wonderful musicians and to see the portraits of the Lviv “pani” (“ladies”)”.
“The melodies played by the “Lvivski Menestreli” welcomed the guests into the palace.”
Larysa Marchuk.

Better Than a Disco.

Commentaires by Olena Padovska, docent in theHistory of Arts:

“…The shows like this one also demand the fitting interiors, for example the Old Lviv History Museum, theHistory Museum, the Potots’kyhPalace or the premises of the Solomija Krushel’nyts’ka Museum. The music was thoroughly chosen and ingeniously performed by the ensemble “Lvivski Menestreli” (“The Lviv Ministrels”). Such music is bound to be played in the most splendid halls.”

Lena Dadukevich, the artistic director of the old music ensemble “Lvivski Menestreli”:

“The idea is indeed very interesting. As a matter of fact, projects like this one demand a lot of effort and hard work. On our part we tried to do our best and I think it came out well. We are glad that the music we like has its listeners. What we play is not pop or noisy dance music that you would hear at a disco – it is something completely different. It is a big pleasure to perform for Lvivites. We take pride in Lviv audience in the same way like we take pride in the architecture of the old city centre or its intellectual crème de la crème. The Lvivites are real connoisseurs of all the sophisticated things.”

ART – POSTUP, 8 th April 2005, "POSTUP": direct speech.

“Sometimes while listening to music you get the feeting of such peacefullnes and serenity you wish it would last if not forever than the longest possible. I experienced this feeling to the full at the rehearsal of the old music ensemble “Lvivski Menestreli” in the concert hall of the Hnat Hotkevych Palace of Arts. Obviously, the instrumental music does have its advantages. When listening to an opera, you might be distracted by the plot and tend to get obsessed with the fate of this or that character. In this case nothing bothers you. The music spellbinds and takes you to meet the Past. Hours fly. The musicians have already packed their instruments and you take no notice of it but sit there, enchanted – by the melodies still sounding in your ears, toying with your fantasy…”

The Second International Festival of Old Music in Lviv (7 th – 22nd October, 2004).

“Lvivs’ka Hazeta”, 27 th Oktober 2004.

The Light Waters of Old Music.

“…The real start of the festival was the concert “Vita Nova” by the ensemble”Lvivski Menestreli”. This ensemble for a couple of years now unites the professional musicians, all of whom are in love with the old music. It is directed by Lena Slopak. The programme of their concert seemed a little too varied at first as it comprised the works of different European schools of the XII th – XIV th century but proved a successful debyt at the festival. Their concert stood comparison even with the following evening’s musical performances which featured professional musicians from Chekh Republic and Slovakia Republic played…” Lidija Melnyk.>>>
